Raised Metallic Foil

This finish adds reflective metallic accents that can be felt on selected areas of a printed piece. In the examples shown, the raised detail and reflections stand out against matte lamination.

How the design is defined

Artwork for the metallic areas is prepared separately from the colour image. It identifies the elements that will receive the finish. Four-colour process printing and foil form distinct parts of the design.

The result

Metallic surfaces reflect light and have a raised finish that can be felt. This reflective effect differs from a gold or silver colour reproduced with four-colour process printing alone.

Contrast with a matte finish

On the illustrated cards, matte lamination contrasts with the metallic accents. The stock texture, printed background and selected areas contribute to the appearance of the design.

When to choose it
